POLICIES & REGULATIONS
For specific information about fees and payment policies, please click here.
By enrolling yourself (in the case of adult students) or your child (in the case of students under 18 years of age) at Rain & Lucky Academy of Dance, you (as the adult student, or the child student’s parent or guardian) acknowledge that you have read, agree to abide by, and (where the context requires) consent to, all of the terms, conditions and policies referred to below.
Students MUST stay home if they are at all unwell, have had contact with a known case of COVID-19, or are awaiting COVID-19 test results.
Rain & Lucky has adjusted its policy to allow students to attend up to three catch-up classes per term. Please email hello@rainandlucky.com to arrange catch-up classes. Catch-up classes do not roll over to the next term. If government-imposed restrictions require us to close our doors, we will revert to online learning. There will be no refunds or credits towards future fees for absences AND/OR if government restrictions require us to stop face-to-face learning.
COVID-Safe Policy
All Rain & Lucky students and their parents/guardians must comply with our COVID-Safe procedures. We take very seriously our role for young people in our community. We are committed to maintaining best practices in relation to hygiene and safety, and strive to create a supportive, nurturing and joyful environment for our students. Rain & Lucky COVID-Safe measures are in line with current government guidelines and will be regularly reviewed and updated as necessary. This policy has been developed using Work Safe and AusDance guidelines. The AusDance Return to Dance guidelines can be viewed here.
What you can expect from us:
Rain & Lucky will continue to stay up to date with the COVID-19 situation and will continue to follow all government health advice.
All Rain & Lucky staff have undertaken the Australian Government’s Infection Control training and will remain up to date with guidelines and best practice in relation to hygiene and infection control.
All Rain & Lucky are aware of and have received relevant training for our COVID-Safe procedures.
We will provide hand sanitiser, soap and disposable hand towels and tissues in the studios, bathrooms and at reception. Hand sanitiser will be dispensed to everyone entering and exiting the building.
We will clean and sanitise our premises daily. High-touch surfaces will be cleaned and disinfected multiple times per day.
Teachers will ensure that there is no partner work or use of communal props in class.
Social distancing markers will be used in studios.
Teachers will remind students of the importance of good hand hygiene, particularly after bathroom breaks or in the event of sneezing.
Parents/carers will be called if a student presents as unwell, for immediate pick up.
Rain & Lucky staff will fully supervise all students during drop off and pick up times to eliminate the need for parents/carers to enter the building. We understand that for very young children, an adult may be needed to accompany the student into the studio. In this case the adult will be asked to use hand sanitiser, complete our contact tracing register and observe social distancing.
Staff will not come into the studio if they are unwell.
During busy times we will utilise both studio doors for entry/exit.
What we expect from students/parents:
Students must not come to class if they are sick, have had contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19 or are awaiting COVID-19 test results.
The waiting area inside the studio is closed; all parents/carers are asked to drop and go, wait in cars or go for a walk.
We understand that for very young children, an adult may be needed to accompany the child. If it is necessary for a parent/carer to enter the building, hands must be sanitised prior to entry and social distancing observed at all times.
Children should be arrive dressed in their dance gear and dance shoes, with warm clothes and boots over top, so they can go straight into the studio. Studios will open five minutes before class only.
Students should line up outside - and be collected from - the Blue or Yellow door, depending on which studio their class is in.
Parents/carers are to be punctual at pick/up drop off times so to avoid students needing to stay in waiting areas. Please come to the studio door rather than waiting in cars, so that our staff can ensure student safety.
Students are asked to go to the bathroom and wash their hands before coming to the studio and are to only bring their shoes and a named drink bottle to class. We encourage parents to clean these items before coming to class and when you get home.
We ask that students refrain from any unnecessary body contact and abide by the social distancing practices in place at the studio (e.g. hugging, high five etc). We understand this is more challenging for little ones and will do our best together to promote positive strategies and age appropriate alternatives.

Class minimum

Catch-up classes
Rain & Lucky does not offer refunds for any classes missed. Students may attend up to three catch-up classes per term, where available. These do not roll over into the next term. To arrange make-up lessons, email hello@rainandlucky.com. Additional make-up classes are also offered for classes which fall on public holidays.
Uniform
Correct uniform must be worn for every class. Rain & Lucky stocks uniform items for your convenience, so they can be purchased directly from the studio. The only classes which don’t require a uniform are adults classes and Prelude Levels 1 & 2, however these classes do require correct footwear. If unsure, please talk to your teacher for professional guidance before you make your dancewear purchase.
Hair
School-aged female ballet students must wear hair in a tidy ballet bun to every class. For other classes, hair should be worn off the face. Our friendly team of teachers can show you how to do a ballet bun if you’re unsure.
Royal Academy of Dance examinations
We strongly encourage all students to study ballet, and all ballet students to work towards Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) annual examinations. Students working towards exams will take at least two ballet classes per week, and you will be delighted with the advantage this gives them in terms of progress and achievement.
Pathway Classical Ballet Extension program
Dancers who would like to take their ballet training to the next level may enquire about joining the Pathway Extension program. Entry is via audition only and we welcome interest from all students. For more information, email hello@rainandlucky.com or ask your ballet teacher.
Age guidelines
Age guidelines are recommendations only and may vary depending on your child's prior experience and natural physical abilities. Our qualified teachers will determine which class is suitable for each child in order for him/her to progress safely and successfully.
Studio etiquette
As part of dance education, Rain & Lucky School of Dance places an emphasis on correct studio etiquette, including good manners, respect, grace, personal presentation, work ethic and discipline. This will be gradually taught and fostered by our teaching team in the interest of developing not just strong and capable dancers but gracious, confident and well-rounded people.
What to bring
* Appropriate uniform, including shoes - labelled with student’s name
* Water bottle - labelled with student’s name
* For students coming straight from school, remember to eat a healthy snack before dance class. Please do not bring any food containing nuts, and if having any before arriving at dance class, wash hands before entering the studio.
Nut-free zone
In the interest of student safety, please do not bring any food containing nuts to any of our studios.
Viewing classes
We invite parents to view the first class so you can be present to support your child emotionally as they settle into their class. After that, in the interest of student focus, concentration and developing independence, and for the benefit of very shy children, parent/guardians are not permitted to sit in on class. Our studios have windows so you can still view the classes. Parents will be invited to watch various open classes throughout the year. Any spectators are asked to sit quietly - in the interest of class focus and respect for the teacher. If your child requires assistance going to the bathroom, you are asked to stay on the premises for the duration of the class.
Inclusion and friendliness
Rain & Lucky is a friendly, inclusive environment. Our values include delivering excellent training within a loving, supportive, respectful and creative environment. Behaviour contrary to this will not be tolerated - this includes respect shown towards teachers, other students and between parents as well.
Injury/Medical Condition/Learning Differences Policy
Any condition which may affect a student’s performance or safety within a class must be reported to the office and teaching staff prior to the student commencing class. It is the parents and/or student's responsibility to inform staff of any conditions which may affect the student's participation in class. If an injury or illness occurs during class, it is the student's responsibility to inform the teacher. The studio holds a first aid kit and all team members are trained in first aid. In the event of an emergency the parent or guardian on file will be contacted immediately.
Amendments may be made to these policies at any time and without notice.
